Tumburu Theertham is one among the natural watercourses, that dates back to the Vedic ages. The story behind the formation of the theertham states that a Gandharva cursed sage Agastya’s lazy wife to become a toad that had to survive during this lake until the sage arrived. once sage Agastya came here together with his disciples, the toad took the Gandharva kind and thence the lake was referred to as Tumburu Theertham.

It is one of the popular places to go to in Tirumala at a distance of twelve km from Tirumala Tirupati Balaji Temple.It can be reached by seven Kms walk from papa Vinasanam & Kalyani Dam purpose through a stony path. typically the route is hospitable public once a year on Phalguna Poornima within the month of March. This route is often closed on all the days and the permission is required from forest department on reach here. TTD permits visitors to Tumburu Theertham for 3 days on a pournami day(full moon day) in the March Month
